The Pattaya Warp

March 15th, 2008

If you need to sample gay Asian delights and drive from Bangkok to Pattaya on a regular basis, you will have noticed they were building mysterious overpasses, about seven of them, all in the middle of nowhere. At the same time they were widening the road. I understand the widening of the road, that was very necessary. But why did they build those overpasses? Wouldn’t it have been much cheaper and less disruptive to build u-turn bridges? Somebody made a lot of money on these things, I think. Luckily most of the construction is finished now, and soon we’ll be able to drive from Bangkok to Pattaya Neua in 90 minutes or so.
